TimesSquare

Merry Christmas and a very much Happier New Year! We have had some lovely days in the city this month. The snowstorm turned the city into a Norman Rockwell Christmas Card for a few days. We went and saw the tree! And today, we walked down to Times Square to check out the New Year's Eve chaos. Check out the gallery for more!

Cool Graffiti

Just a few pictures of the Hudson Bay and New Jersey. We finally walked to Riverside Park and found out there are piers and cool old docks and ancient looking buildings. It seems like you can walk from here all the way to the end of the island. Happy Thanksgiving! Check out the gallery for more!

Walk to Hudson Foliage
Book Store

New York is getting close to shutting things down again to try to curb a new spike in Covid, so we took a walk to the used bookstore last week while we had the chance. I took a few pictures to show how even a little walk to the bookstore is an adventure here. Check out the gallery for more!

Bryant Park Skating Rink

It is Autumn and Christmas all at once in New York City. The leaves are just reaching their peak color as the skating rinks are being set up and the store windows are being decorated. And rumor has it that the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree is being cut down upstate and should arrive any day. I am so ready for Christmas! I'll go ahead and say it ... Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Tonight Show Marquee

Walking is wonderful! We didn't bring our car so our feet take us everywhere we want to go. We've taken some fun walks this week, always masked up of course (I included a picture of the big pile of masks that we choose from before heading out:). It's so cool to turn a corner and see "The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon" on a marquee! Sunday morning, we took a pre-church walk and passed St. Patrick's just as the bells began...that was a magical city moment. Check out the gallery for more! 10/29/20

New York Central Park Bridge

Six days later, our things have arrived and we are mostly moved into our apartment. Moving day was...interesting. It has taken us until now to start recovering. A second walk yesterday in Central Park helped. We saw a sign somewhere in the park that said it was created for the rest and relaxation of New Yorkers (or something like that). We are already grateful for it. There are a few pictures here of our first two walks in Central Park, and more in the photo gallery.

New York at Night

Freedom! More pictures and videos to come...this morning we took a nice walk around Central Park, picked up groceries and laundry supplies, and then I did four loads of laundry...taking four flights of stairs for each load. Mostly...we feel way too lucky to be here and are so excited for the adventures ahead. New York is a beautiful city and there is so much to explore.

Our glimpse of Columbus Street

We are a week into quarantine, so our only view of New York up to now has been through the cab window on the way to the apartment and through the windows of our bedroom to the backs of surrounding apartments. But what a classic New York view it is! We feel like Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly in Rear Window, though our adventure hasn't been so much a murder mystery as a mystery of how to affordably order groceries to be delivered to our door.
